PLAYBETUSA’S NFL WEEK #8 PREDICTIONS, PICKS AND ODDS 2021

Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions

October 31st – 1:00 pm ET – Ford Field

The Detroit Lions remain the National Football League’s only winless team, coming into Sunday’s contest with a woeful 0-7 record. Last weekend, they put in a valiant effort against their former quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams but ultimately came up short losing 28-19. Questions are already starting to be asked of Jared Goff as he has yet to prove himself In Detroit.

The Philadelphia Eagles have now lost three of their last four games and will be desperate to get back to winning ways in Detroit at Ford Field on Sunday afternoon. They didn’t look good last weekend against the Las Vegas Raiders and are quickly seeing their season slip away from them. They need a win on Sunday if they have any chance of reaching the postseason.

Despite their 2-5 record, the Eagles are still 3.5-point favorites coming into the contest, but probably shouldn’t be. Detroit will be viewing this as a game they could win and will want to get the monkey off their back in front of their home fans.

ODDS: Philadelphia (-3.5)

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns

October 31st – 1:00 pm ET – FirstEnergy Stadium

The Cleveland Browns beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in two consecutive weeks last season to eliminate them from the Wild Card Round of the playoffs. It demonstrated their arrival as a legitimate contender in the AFC and proved they could compete for an AFC North division title. However, they will likely be without star quarterback Baker Mayfield on Sunday as a result of a shoulder injury. Case Keenum who went 21/33 with 199 yards and a touchdown against the Denver Broncos in week seven would get the start if Mayfield can’t go.

The Steelers will be a well-rested side coming into Sunday’s contest as they were off last weekend on their bye week. They have won consecutive games for the first time all season and will be desperate to pick up a crucial win against a division rival.

We should be in for a close contest when these two familiar rivals lock horns at FirstEnergy Stadium, which is why the Steelers with a 3.5-point cushion is worth laying money on. The over may also be worth going with considering how low the total is set.

Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills

October 31st– 1:00 pm ET – Highmark Stadium

The Buffalo Bills were left heartbroken at the end of their Monday night contest against the Tennessee Titans after Josh Allen slipped on a quarterback sneak. However, they will have been off for two weeks entering Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins and will be motivated to pick up a convincing win in front of their home fans. The Bills remain atop the AFC East standings and can solidify their spot with a victory over a struggling division rival.

The Dolphins’ season has gone completely downhill since their big win over the New England Patriots in the first week of the season. They have now lost five in a row, including an embarrassing g 35-0 beat down by the Bills in their own stadium.

The Bills are massive 13.5-point favorites in this one, but it’s not hard to see why and they should be covering the spread by halftime if all goes according to plan. Take the home team and the over.

Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets

October 31st – 1:00 pm ET – MetLife Stadium

Nobody is questioning the Cincinnati Bengals anymore after their dominant 41-17 win over the Baltimore Ravens last weekend. They needed to get the job done against a top division rival and indeed they did in one of the toughest places to play. They will be looking to pick up their third consecutive win when they travel to MetLife Stadium to play the abysmal New York Jets.

The Jets remain one of the worst teams in the entire NFL, sitting with a 1-5 record. They were humiliated at Gillette Stadium last weekend by the New England Patriots who won 54-13. New York’s only win of the year did come against a very good Tennessee Titans side though, so it remains to be seen which version of the Jets we will actually get in this game.

The visitors will be full of confidence and ready to go on enemy turf. Take them to cover the large spread, with the over also a great option.

Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings

October 31st – 8:20 pm ET – U.S. Bank Stadium

The Dallas Cowboys couldn’t have chosen a better time to have had a bye week after star quarterback Dak Prescott went down against the New England Patriots in week six. He probably would have been out of action had the Cowboys had a game scheduled. Fortunately for Dallas’ fans, he will likely be able to play against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night as his team chase their sixth consecutive victory of the season.

Minnesota were finally starting to gain momentum prior to being off last week on their bye week. They beat the Detroit Lions with a last-second field goal and also knocked off the Carolina Panthers in overtime the following week. They will be in for a much bigger challenge on Sunday evening though, as the Cowboys are proving to be an elite team in the NFC.

With Prescott back in the lineup, the Cowboys should have no issues picking up an important win on the road in Minnesota and covering the 2.5-points.

ODDS: Dallas (-2.5)
Over/Under: 54.5
