PLAYBETUSA’S NBA WEEK #7 PREDICTIONS, PICKS, AND ODDS

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS AT INDIANA PACERS

January 31st – 7:00 pm ET –Bankers Life Fieldhouse

The Philadelphia 76ers have been on fire to start the season with Tobias Harris and Joel Embiid dominating opponents. They have not had the most difficult beginning to the campaign and their schedule does get tougher, but they are quickly becoming legitimate contenders to win the Eastern Conference.

Indiana is no joke though and have also looked strong early on in the season. Head coach Nate Bjorkgren has transformed this team to be one of the best defensive squads in the game. Myles Turner is having a career-year and he is a big reason for the Pacers’ success thus far.

This will be a fun contest between two teams playing some of the best basketball in the entire NBA at the moment and one that will attract interest from across the league. The Pacers have been good at home, but it’s hard to go against the 76ers right now. Take Philadelphia and the under in what should be a close contest.

ODDS: 76ers -2 (-112) / Pacers +2 (-110)

LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS AT NEW YORK KNICKS

January 31st – 1:00 pm ET – Madison Square Garden

The Los Angeles Clippers have gotten off to a terrific start and will need to keep momentum going in order to keep up with the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz. With a healthy Kawhi Leonard and Paul George though, they are easily one of the most talented squads in the entire NBA and will not be intimidated heading into Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Knicks are a better team than they were last year, but still have plenty of work to do before they are ready to compete with the league’s elite. With that said, they did manage to keep it close in the first contest between these two sides earlier this season. The Clippers narrowly escaped with an 135-132 win at the Staples Center.

The visitors should have no issues brushing the Knicks aside on Sunday afternoon. The over is also worth laying money on with both teams able to put up points.

ORLANDO MAGIC AT TORONTO RAPTORS

January 31st – 7:00 pm ET – Amalie Arena

The 2019 NBA Champions have still not looked themselves this season, failing to adjust to life in their new home of Tampa Bay. It remains to be seen when they will be able to play home games again at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, but for now they must learn to make Amalie Arena a fortress.

They have the opportunity to pick up an important win on their “home court” when they welcome the Orlando Magic to town on Sunday evening. Orlando hasn’t looked much better than Toronto has and will need to figure out a way to stop Kyle Lowrie and Pascal Siakam.

This will be the first of two meetings between these clubs and as such we still aren’t sure exactly how they will match up. However, the Raptors are the more talented team and should prevail if they are playing like they are capable of. Go with the home team to pick up an important victory on Sunday night.

ODDS: Magic +5.5 (-110) / Raptors -5.5 (-110)

LOS ANGELES LAKERS AT ATLANTA HAWKS

February 1st – 7:30 pm ET – State Farm Arena

Lebron James, Anthony David and the Los Angeles Lakers proved all the doubters wrong last summer inside the NBA bubble when they defeated the Miami Heat in the NBA final to become champions. They are now looking to prove it was no fluke as they continue to dominate the league, demonstrating they are still the team to beat.

Atlanta has gotten off to a decent start though, as they know they cannot afford to fall behind early in the race for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. While they are not an elite squad, they are a team that can make life difficult for any opponent on any night – especially on home court.

The Lakers should be too much to handle though for the Hawks if James and Davis are both in the lineup as expected to be the case. Go with the visitors and the over in what should be a fun game to watch.

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS AT CHARLOTTE HORNETS

February 3rd – 7:30 pm ET – Spectrum Center

The Philadelphia 76ers will be chomping at the bit to play the Hornets in Charlotte on Wednesday night. This will be the third and final game between these two teams this season, with the 76ers winning both of the first two contests by a combined total of 32 points.

The Hornets have struggled early in the campaign and will have a difficult time keeping up with a 76ers’ side that looks nearly unstoppable at the moment. While they should do better on home court than they did at the Wells Fargo Center, they will still be in for a long night against Philadelphia.

The visitors should win this one by double-digits if they continue to play the way they have been in recent weeks. The over should also be a lock at the Spectrum Center as well considering Philadelphia had 127 and 118 points in their first two games against the Hornets.

PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS AT PHILADELPHIA

February 4th – 7:00 pm ET – Wells Fargo Center

The Philadelphia 76ers are forced to host the Portland Trailblazers a night after playing the Charlotte Hornets on the road at the Spectrum Center. While they have been one of the best teams in the entire NBA this season, it is still a daunting task for any team considering they must travel as well.

Portland has looked good to kick off the campaign as they begin jockeying for playoff positioning in the competitive Western Conference. While they will be travelling from Milwaukee after a difficult game against the Bucks, the Trailblazers will have been off since Monday and will be much more rested than their hosts.

This will be a fun game to watch between two teams who don’t get to play against each other very often, but the Trailblazers have a big advantage due to scheduling and should take advantage of it. Go with the away team to pick up a big win in Philadelphia on Thursday.
