Seidel ends a long wait for the ninth bracelet
Erik Seidel is widely recognized as one of the best poker players in the business, having secured more than 100 WSOP cash during his illustrious career.
He won eight WSOP bracelets between 1992 and 2007, putting him one short of three-time Main Event champion Johnny Moss’ tally of nine.
Seidel has finally ended his long wait for a ninth bracelet by winning the $10,000 Super Million$ High Roller tournament at the 2021 WSOP Online.
He defeated Uruguay’s Francisco Benitez heads-up to scoop the eye-watering $977,842 prize and a place alongside Moss in the record books.
Brazilians shine in Millionaire Maker event
Brazilian players have been emerging as a major force in world poker over the past few years and that trend has continued at WSOP Online.
The $1,500 Millionaire Maker event attracted a staggering 5,437 entries, generating a first prize of $1,384,013 for the winner.
Eduardo Pires topped a strong finish for Brazil, with compatriots Tauan Naves (3rd) and Victor Begara (6th) also featuring at the final table.
Pires overcame Lukas Hafner in the heads-up battle, hammering home his big chip lead by hitting an eight-high straight on the river in the final hand.
Big Heads-up battle down to the final four
The $10,000 Heads-up Championship has reached the semi-final stage, with four players eager to claim the biggest share of the $1,561,700 prize pool.
Arthur Conan, Adrian Mateos, Daniel Soltys and Aleksejs Ponakovs have each battled through five match-ups to date, and will return on September 4 for the final battle.
All four players have already secured $155,389 each, but will be firmly focused on scooping the $466,167 first-place prize and a prestigious WSOP bracelet.
Conan will now go head-to-head with Mateos, while Soltys meets Ponakovs for a seat at the final table in what has been a hugely competitive event.
